Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operating Machinery:
    • Safely operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, loaders, and cranes.
    • Load precast delivery trailers safely and efficiently, ensuring loads are accurate.
    • Unload and load delivery trucks of raw materials as necessary.
    • Assist drivers, yard personnel, or plant personnel as needed to facilitate operations.
    • Assist in raw materials inventories as required.
    • Work closely with Quality Control personnel to ensure quality of products is maintained during shipping by visually inspecting, reporting non-conformances, or patching concrete products if needed.
    • Assist and interact professionally with customers as well as Department of Transportation personnel.
  • Preventive Maintenance and Upkeep:
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks on assigned equipment including lubrication, cleaning, fueling, and reporting necessary repairs.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections using maintenance management systems (MaintainX or equivalent).
  • Safety Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for oneself and others.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with production teams, facility maintenance, and fabrication teams to minimize disruption and ensure continuous operation of equipment.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Assist in counting yard inventories of raw materials and finished goods.

Minimum Qualifications

  • General:
    • Maintain a valid driver’s license.
    • Ability to work safely and follow all company safety policies.
    • Reliable transportation to and from work.
    • Ability to successfully complete equipment operating training as needed.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous experience as an equipment operator or in a related field, typically 2–5 years.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management regarding maintenance needs and upgrades.
  • Certifications (Desirable):
    • Forklift operator certification
    • Crane operator certification

Physical Requirements

  • Required to stand, walk, stoop, crouch, kneel, bend, climb, or sit for extended periods of time; reach and handle objects, tools, or controls.
  • Regularly lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.; occasionally lift or move objects weighing more than 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Perform manual labor and utilize various hand tools.

Working Environment

  • Work is performed outside in all weather conditions, including potentially adverse conditions.
  • Noise level is usually moderate but includes working near moving mechanical parts.
  • Work may include nights, weekends, and holidays depending on production schedules.
